The satellite location of the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology in Bristol, RI, the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology at Manning Hall is the first on-campus extension of Brown's only "university museum." Located on the first floor of Manning Hall, the third oldest building on campus, the gallery opened to the public in May 2005. Its inaugural exhibit, Warp Speeds, utilizes textiles and textile-related objects to look at globalization through an anthropological lens. It features stunning examples of textiles from the Americas, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific from ancient times to the present. The exhibit, which will remain in place through May 2006, is co-curated by museum staff, faculty, and students. Donations accepted.
