| Description: | The garden design process will be examined methodically, using a case-study approach. The course will focus on structure and the underlying relationships of space, light, scale and proportion, showing how such elements interact and change over time. Selection of appropriate plant materials, the roles of color, form, and texture and the practical aspects of building and maintaining the garden will also be examined. Students will learn how to analyze a site and formulate design concepts based on physical/ecological conditions and to satisfy spatial needs and aesthetic preferences. Instructor: Dennis Collins, Mount Auburn Cemetery | |
