Description: Set in feudal Japan, the two act comic opera The Mikado or “The Town of TItipu,” is Gilbert and Sullivan’s most beloved and famous opera, with the witty and highly entertaining social satire of Gilbert still ringing as true in our own day as in Victorian England. Malcolm Halliday will conduct this semi-staged concert version of the opera, featuring the Master Singers as the “Japanese Chorus.” Selected artists from Worcester Opera Works will perform the lead roles in costume and act out the dialogue as well. Soloists will include Jeff Black, Sean O’Donnell, Dave Bonneau, Thomas Dawkins, Joshua Taylor, Angeliki Theoharis, Elaine Crane, Jacque Eileen Wilson and Andrea Pisani. Stage direction by Doug Buell. Accompaniment by Brett Maguire. For tickets, mail check payable to Master Singers of Worcester for $25 each for regular or $20 each for senior/student tickets to P.O. Box 7203 Worcester, MA 01605. We will mail tickets or hold them at the door.
