| Description: | The Blackstone Canal Tour is on a horse and Buggy tour down water street and all through the canal district. Come and enjoy a day on a horse and buggy while listening to the interesting and captivating history of the blacstone canal and the district. Learn about all the business in the area. Tour guides:Iris sanxhacu and Rubby Wuabu former south high school graduates and now students of Holycross and Simmons college. We are so excited to combine a historic lesson with a fun and enjoyable sight seeing outing on a nice day.This summer the Blackstone canal tour has received a grant from the John H. Chaffee National Heritage Corridor Commission. A Grant match from the Canal District Alliance, Inc., Worcester and support from the Canal District Business Association and financial sponsorships from many Canal District Businesses, CultureLEAP(This is MYCity) and South High community school. With this grant we are able to hire five students from south high school. We will provide them with a meaningful summer job as well as training to boost their confidence and equip them with leadership skills that will serve them well in the future. These students have each chosen a persona t research and portray during the tour. This summer we will be having a huge kickoff event with music, with speeches and influential members in our community on July 8th 2010 at 4:30pm at 90 Harding Street. | |
