| Description: | A solo exhibit entitled, "H. Gay Allen: Solo Refacimento" is running for the full month of July, at the Sandy Springs Library Gallery, 395 Mount Vernon Drive, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328. All of the work being shown begins with Ms. Allen's original photography and, through various elaborate processes, is transformed into original art work, which is displayed via pigmented print, on paper or canvas. Ms. Allen's work has been featured in many national and regional juried shows, is included in the Museum of Computer Art and on her website at www.HGAYALLEN.com. "I was educated in art, have worked as a professional photographer and made my living as an IT systems designer and developer, but now I am combining all three to explore the many facets of each original photograph". The process was dubbed, by the New York Times, as refacimento (ree-FATCH-e-men-toe), the radical refashioning of a work of art, by use of a computer.* Some works are recognizable as the original objects, some are mysteriously familiar, but not readily identifiable; and others have been taken beyond recognition. The solo show is available for viewing during the library's regular hours. |
