| Description: | The Vikings are invading the Higgins Armory Museum! Learn what it was like to be a Viking warrior or a woman in Viking times. See Viking style combat and even sharpen your own skills with our one-hour workshop. There will also be viking themed crafts and games throughout the day. Women in Viking Times 11:30 am - 12:00 pm Vikings in Arms! 12:45 pm - 1:00 pm and 2:45 pm - 3:00 pm Axe, Sword and Shield! Workshop 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Viking Warrior Presentation 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm Meet author William Short as he signs copies of Viking Weapons and Combat Techniques immediately following his Viking Warrior presentation. This exciting new book explores the history of the arms, armor, and individual fighting strategies of medieval Europe's most feared warriors. Dr. William R. Short is an author and student of Viking-age topics, with special interests in medieval Icelandic literature, Viking age material culture, Viking age weapons, and Viking age combat techniques. |
