Description: The Brahms Requiem -a work of great power and beauty, the Requiem sets biblical texts in German rather than the ancient Latin rite - will be performed by the 100+ voices of the Worcester Chorus and director Christopher Shepard, joined by the Holy Cross Choir and conductor Pamela Mindell, as well as the Festival Orchestra. Baritone soloist will be the New Zealand sensation Teddy Tahu Rhodes, and soprano Maria Ferrante. Also on the program will be shorter works of Mendelssohn, Baldassare Galuppi, Flor Peeters - with Ian Watson on the Hook organ in Mechanics Hall, the Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni will be sung by Maria Ferrante, Soprano - Worcester's own! Free & optional pre-concert talk/demonstration performance in Washburn Hall starting at 7PM.
The Worcester Chorus, with Christopher Shepard, Artistic Director, celebrates its 150th Anniversary with one of the most profound European works of art ever penned.
