| Description: | The Heifer International Study Tours Program to Estonia and Latvia is designed for the whole family! Bring your children (10 or older) or grandchildren with you to witness first hand Heifer's work in the Baltic. Your trip to these two nations will be an intensive educational experience in the world of sustainable community development, focusing especially on Heifer's approach of providing livestock and training to developing communities. You will connect with Heifer's work through interaction with our local staff and recipients. You will see Heifer's 12 Cornerstones for Just and Sustainable Development in action, and will come away with a better understanding and appreciation of the uniqueness and effectiveness of the Heifer model of Passing on the Gift. The Study Tour will begin in Tallin, Estonia, where you will visit the Heifer office and have an orientation workshop on Heifer's work and the issues of hunger, poverty and environmental degradation. There will also be tours of cultural and historical sites in Estonia. You will then travel to Latvia with a similar itinerary and end in Riga. In both areas, you will spend several days learning about Heifer's work, visiting with our project partners, interacting with the communities Heifer supports and engaging in cultural activities. The cost of the Study Tour is $3,500 and includes accommodations, meals, in-country transportation, project visits, tour leaders and guides, workshops, sightseeing, a Heifer rolling backpack, nametag and SOS emergency evacuation insurance. Our trips are LAND ONLY to allow you the option of airlines and best fares, as well as the opportunity for pre/post trips on an independent basis.
