| Description: | Young Volunteer Orientation for 12-**, 13- and 14-year-olds is held each Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. **12-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult during orientation and when volunteering. A parent of all 13- and 14-year-olds must attend the first 10 minutes of the Young Volunteer Orientation. Young Volunteers may work two or fewer hours per day. They learn to shelve picture books and items in the Children's Department, plus help with special projects. Pre-Beta Club and other service organizations allow students to receive volunteer credit at our Library. Young Volunteers or their parent must call the Children's Department to schedule their days/times for volunteering. Volunteer Applications are available at the Library or online at the www.afpls.org web site under "Support AFPLS.... Volunteers." Young Volunteers 13- and 14-years-old (and all teens ages 13-19) also may join the Friends of the NE Spruill Oaks Library for $5 to receive membership benefits and to volunteer for some Friends-related projects and book sales.
