| Description: | Opening Night for the 150th Gala Anniversary Season of the Worcester Music Festival! Music Worcester presents this outstanding symphony orchestra from Brazil, touring the U.S. under the baton of rising star 29-year-old Kazem Abdullah, who recently debuted at the Met, and Scottish percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie - one of the world's most innovative musicians today - performing Scottish composer James MacMillan's percussion concerto "Veni, Veni, Emmanuel". Also on the program: Villa-Lobos' "Bachianas Brasileiras No.4" and Bartok's "The Miraculous Mandarin". This very special performance is one not to be missed!! An intermission surprise and the 7PM pre-concert talk (free to all ticketholders) by former BSO annotator Steven Ledbetter, as well as an optional 5:30PM gala dinner (catered by Worcester's fine Struck Catering) with a Brazilian theme available for $32/person, all add to the celebration of festival's 150th season! | |
