Description: The Choirs of All Saints Church channel spring fever for this gorgeous, unusual program of spiritually moving and uplifting choral works. Wonderful music in an extraordinary acoustical space, the nave of All Saints (designed by the architect of Washington National Cathedral).

The concert includes movements from Mozart's Coronation Mass, Benjamin Britten's brilliant and daring cantata "Rejoice in the Lamb", Spirituals such as "Deep River" and "Same Train", and secular music to celebrate Springtime, including "Somewhere over the Rainbow," "I can give you the starlight" from the movie "Gosford Park," and "Angel" as made popular by Harvey and the Wallbangers. There is something to delight every ear and children (ages 5 and up) are particularly encouraged to attend.

Ticket prices for this fund raising event are $20 adults, $12 students and Seniors. Tickets are available at the door (no advance purchase required)

This program will be the last concert performance before the choirs depart for their Tour of England, August 5-20, 2008. Having received the rare invitation to sing with three of the most prestigious and famous English Cathedral choirs (Hereford, Gloucester and Worcester, UK) the All Saints Choirs of Worcester, USA , will lift their voices in Worcester, UK.

Don't miss this chance, on May 9, to hear some of what the international audience attending the 281st Three Choirs Festival will hear, including

...a purity and clarity of tone that set the bar at the highest level. The treble threesome was particularly fine...achieving an astonishingly ethereal moment. -John Zeugner, Telegram & Gazette reviewer, Nov 5, 2007

Under Peter Stoltzfus Berton, the Boy and Girl Choirs have grown from a handful of Sunday service choristers in 2004 into an acclaimed choir of over thirty children who join the adult choir in serving far beyond parish confines. In keeping with English Royal School of Church Music tradition, the children do not sing special youth-choir pieces, but perform with adult basses, tenors, and altos, supplying an unmatched clarity and sweetness of tone in both group and solo singing.

This concert will showcase the full-range of emotional and musical styles a choir with a full-range of ages can master. From the fanfare and pageantry of Mozart's Coronation Mass to the vocal precision of the a capella Same Train with its steam engine rhythm, spiritual urgency, pounding crescendo and climactic glissando blast of a train whistle, to the familiar yearning strains of the ever-popular "Somewhere over the Rainbow," you'll want to hear the choir that will be serving as ambassadors to England this summer! A special website of information about the tour, including the proclamation by Mayor Konstantina Lukes of August 5, 2008 as "Worcester to Worcester Day", can be found under "Choir Tour Info" at www.allsaintsw.org.

Should you wish to hear the choirs at other times, the service music schedule can be found at www.allsaintsw.org/music. Different sections of the full choir sing Sunday mornings at 10:30, in the church, from September through early June.

This year, the full choir will sing a special evensong on June 8 (preceded by English Tea at 4 p.m. , $5. per person, no reservation). A gala farewell Evensong will be held on August 3, 5 p,m. which all are welcome to attend. Come join in the bon voyage celebration!

Through these choirs, All Saints Church works to nurture the vibrant choral traditions of our Worcester, its historic relationship with the English Worcester and increased presence, audience, and service within the city and beyond. As we seek to raise funds for the Tour of England, the choirs have, alone and with other choirs, also participated in service projects which have raised more than $11,000. towards the needs of the Worcester community and beyond.
Readathon (Spring 2007) -- donated $3000 worth of new books to New Orleans children
Hymnathon (Nov. 2007) raised $5500 for service programs of Neighborhood Ministries
Abby's House Benefit (Feb 2008) youth choirs concert raised over $4000 for programs.

(To help keep this music and the spirit of service vital, please consider making a donation at any time by sending a check made out to All Saints Church (memo line- choir). All Saints church is a 501 (c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible.)
