| Description: | Jeremy Black is the established chair of history at the University of Exeter (Exeter, Devon, United Kingdom), a position he has held since 1996. He studied at Queens' College Cambridge, St. John's College Oxford and Merton College Oxford before joining the University of Durham as a lecturer in 1980. There he gained his Ph.D. and ultimately his professorship in 1994. An internationally-recognized authority on military and diplomatic history, he is also a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia. He has authored more than 70 books, including Great Powers and the Quest for Hegemony (2007) and The Age of Total War, 1860-1945: Studies in Military History & International Affairs (2006). |
