MYSTERIOUS STONE HEADS Al Smith, archaeologist and geologist, will present a slide show on these curious stone carvings that have turned up in Sturbridge, Southbridge and Brimfield. The stones weigh from two to sixy-five pounds, and appear to have an Iroquois influence. The Iroquois, a powerful and influential native people, were known to travel and trade in this area. The mysterious stone heads may be ceremonial artifacts. Join us this evening to discover the history and the mystery behind these local discoveries. 508-347-9144 or info@opacumit.org |
