| Description: | Kathy Murray creates monotype prints inspired by the use of ordinary materials and clothing. Artistic intuition combined with the individuality of the printing process itself allows Murray to produce one of a kind monotypes. She states, Much of the work I am exhibiting is a variety of prints made by using pieces of clothing as metaphors for human gesture, attitude, identity, and exploring ways to enlist the power of suggestion. I begin with an intuitive choice of color and composition and then let my imagination guide how I work with the image. Originally trained as a painter, Murray was drawn to the color saturation, spontaneity and direct expressionism of monotype prints, and finds the possibilities for creativity in printmaking endless. | |
