| Description: | Prepare to take the National Phlebotomy Examination for certification. Work in the various aspects of healthcare phlebotomy: hospitals, clinics, outreach/home visits & Insurance chains. Students learn with a combination of classroom, with text book Phlebotomy Essentials, and hands-on labs to develop venipuncture skills, practice healthcare safety and communication skills. Students are expected to perform at least 15 venipunctures and 5 skin punctures. Students must perform at 75% or better on a pass/fail basis. 9.0 CEUs Prerequisites: English/Reading Assessment or High School/GED, strong English skills, and documentation of having had a physical, TB test and at least the initial Hepatitis B vaccination, within the past year. |
