Description: THE MILLIES MOVIE MURAL MATCHUP
Unique Art Competition and Exhibit where Fine Art Meets Film -
Your Art could be featured in Our Movie!

Call for "Lights, Camera, Artists!"

A unique contest merges fine art and film. Director Lorre Fritchy is teaming with Gallery 181 to host a contest that will determine the winning artist to create paintings featured in Fritchy's upcoming feature film, "Millies," to be filmed in and around Lawrence MA in 2008.

In the film, a troubled group of mill workers returns from 1912 to convince a bankrupt mill owner that her future is the key to their past. The paintings are significant in the subplot between the mill owner and a delinquent Latino youth. Fritchy will judge the contest based on the artwork as well as contestant interviews. Images should represent the theme of "Mill Ghosts" - see mill buildings themselves as characters in a story, what history or industry has happened there, what dichotomy of the rich and the poor they represent, how do old mills fit into the modern world? Show us your inner Millie!

Artists will submit images via email, FTP, or CD as indicated below. Work must originate solely in the paint medium to qualify for this contest. Artists must be 18 or older to enter, and are required to fill out the brief survey enclosed. Entry fees
are $35 for up to three entries, payable by money order or PayPal (coming soon) at www.MilliesMovie.com. Artwork should be for sale with a 30% commission of purchase price to be shared equally by Gallery 181 and MasterPeace Productions as a partial
offset for expenses incurred during exhibit and competition organization. Artists may set prices for their pieces at their own discretion.

Finalists will be notified prior to a gala reception, and will have a brief interview with the Director. The grand prize winner will be announced at the gala and will receive a cash prize and the opportunity to have his or her work featured on-screen in the MasterPeace Productions film, "Millies." The winning artist will be responsible for creating murals of mills on actual building surfaces, and faux murals of mills, on removable panels. Art supplies will be provided by the film production. The atmosphere of filmmaking is exciting, fast-paced and ever-changing; therefore, the artist must be comfortable with taking direction and accepting production schedule fluctuations.

A number of entries will be selected by Gallery Director Marjorie Kaye for display at her Gallery 181 space at the Cotton Weaving House, an historic Lawrence building now housing the gallery and several boutique shops. The Millies Movie Mural exhibit is free and will run from September 10 to October 11, 2007. The grand prize winner will be announced at a free reception and silent auction open to the public on October 5th, 2007 from 5:30 to 8pm. Gallery 181 is located at 181 Canal Street, Lawrence MA 01840, 781-741-7979.

Entry forms/fees, submissions, inquiries, or requests for interviews should be sent to: Lorre Fritchy, Director, MasterPeace Productions, PO Box 4139, Lawrence MA 01843, email: film@masterpeaceproductions.com, or visit
http://www.MilliesMovie.com, where the offical PDF entry form may be downloaded. MasterPeace Productions reserves all rights to terminate the film portion of this competition at any time before or during film production, and will be the sole decider in determining the artistic content of the film.
