| Description: | MYSTIC CONTRA DANCE "The Pie Dance", Sat. 02/25/2023 NEW TIME: Dance 7:30-10:30pm [Intro session 7:15 pm] WHERE: Groton Center's community meeting hall @ 102 Newtown Road, Groton, CT 06340. ROLE TERMS: "Ladies & Gents" or "Women and Men" CALLER: Tod Whittemore. Tod has been calling contras and squares for more than 40 years. He is a favorite dance caller and the founder of the NEFFA Thursday Night Contra Dance back in the late 1970s. Tod Whittemore is well-known for his yodeling squares. This will be quite a treat! LIVE MUSIC: "Dogtown". comprised of Becky Miller (fiddle, piano) and Norb Spencer (accordion) and possibly one other. HOMEMADE PIE! This month we offer cherry and chocolate pies! These delicious pies are offered at the break for $3/slice help support the band and caller. COVID: > We require sign-in and contact information for notification. > Vaccinations are encouraged though not required. > Masks: are optional and always welcome. ADMISSION: $10 adults, $7 students. & Donations gratefully accepted! CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Clothing is casual, layers are best for this invigorating exercise. Please wear non-street shoes that move easily on the floor (rubber soled sneaker are discouraged but some do wear them even though it makes dancing a bit harder). PARKING: Plenty of parking in the large parking area next to the building!
