Description: | In 2022 CC Lowell celebrated its 170th year in business. The store has the honor of being the oldest art supply store in the country. Founded by John. C. White in 1852, it started selling basic paint and art supplies at 8 Front Street. Charles Calvin Lowell started there as an employee. Lowell purchased the business from White in December of 1889 prior to Whites death. He soon changed the name to C.C. Lowell and the name has remained since. This exhibit brings the C.C. Lowell archive to WHM, sharing some original merchandise from the 170 years of a business in the city. On exhibit through April 15. | |
