|Description:||What is more cozy or hygge than a bowl of warm soup in winter? This on-demand workshop will focus on three timeless soups -- minestrone, tomato/corn chowder, and carrot vichyssoisse -- that would suffice as a meal with the simple addition of some crackers and a salad. The recipes can be followed as written, but we will discuss ways that we can change ingredients to refine them to your tastes, family preferences, and allergies. The soups may be plant-based or meat-based and may include dairy but we will explore non-dairy options.
As part of the class we will discuss and practice knife skills, look at ways of using herbs and spices, and learn how to make your own stocks. In addition to the video, you will receive a list of ingredients and recipes.
Instructor: Laura Ziman
Laura Ziman is a greatly experienced cooking instructor who hails from New York City, where she grew up eating the plethora of foods available. After graduating from college she attended cooking school in Paris. On her return to New York she started her life as a professional cook which includes years of teaching, catering, owning a restaurant and food styling for television. More recently she has added teaching and lecturing on topics of food history. Even without a restaurant, she cooks every day.
