Description: Join us for another across-the-pond collaboration between two great Shrewsbury Libraries! Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK and Shrewsbury, MA will be coming together to discuss Eric Klinenberg's book, Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequality, Polarization, and the Decline of Civic Life, an intimate examination of how shared public spaces (especially libraries!) create a deeper sense of community and connection between individuals, and how their gradual disappearance from the world is contributing to a world that is increasingly disconnected and polarized. Find out what your friends on the other side of the Atlantic think in this relaxed, one-off book club.
