Description: Join resident Gene McCarthy as he shows how to read and speak poetry, using line, sound, rhythm, and much more. After exploring those elements in his book Sound Ideas: Hearing and Speaking Poetry, we now read selections from various major poets Stanley Kunitz, Mary Oliver, Seamus Heaney, and the like where we learn that by speaking a poem aloud our human voice and body convey the emotions of the poem and its experience.

This program is also offered on February 17th at 4:00pm in the Elms Library
