Description: This course is an examination of the origins of the religious, artistic, social, and cultural battles that continue to divide Americans. Topics include religious fundamentalism, Harlem Renaissance, White Supremacy, popular culture versus modern art, and the rise of the modern young woman.
Instructor: John F. McClymer recently retired after 48 years of teaching history at Assumption College. He is the author of seven books as well as dozens of scholarly articles and book chapters. This course is based in part on his book, The Birth of Modern America 1914 -1920.
