Description: One way to develop our innate ability to identify the many components of our local biodiversity is by learning a dozen key organisms in each group. By building a foundation of a few common species across nature's many groups, you can recognize patterns and add new species by comparison, eventually gaining a thorough knowledge and understanding of local nature, natural communities, and habitats.

Classes meet 2 Sunday afternoons a month and together form a series that looks in-depth at segments of the plant portion of the natural world. Each month is a different topic.

Classes will be both indoors and outdoors using photos and specimens, with ample time to explore the sanctuary trails and put newly-gained practical knowledge to use. Joe Choiniere's outdoor knowledge is both broad and deep. His gentle, hands-on teaching style makes it enjoyable and easy to learn.

This series is equally suitable for beginners as well as those who want to deepen their knowledge. March 24 & April 7: Spring Tree Flowers
