Description: In his lecture The Theater is Always Dying, S. E. Gontarski will discuss questions of theater and performance, with reference to two of his films of Samuel Becketts works (but the clouds and Ohio Impromptu). Prof. Gontarski is among the most famous Beckett scholars in the world. His books include The Intent of Undoing in Samuel Becketts Dramatic Texts (Indiana UP) and Revisioning Beckett: Samuel Becketts Decadent Turn (Bloomsbury-Academic).This lecture is sponsored by the Assumption College HumanArts series.
