|Description:||The Concord Band is preparing for its 33rd season at Fruitlands Museum, to begin on Thursday June 21 with Main Street USA, a program with some Dixie, some Blues, some marches, and two Broadway show selections. June 28th, its Strike Up the Bands with music from Chicago, Santana, the Beatles, ABBA, and 1940s big bands. The Bands Independence Day program of patriotic American music, America Forever, will be played at the Picnic in the Park concert in Concord on July 4 and at Fruitlands on Thursday July 5. July 12, For Kids of All Ages, includes familiar and catchy childrens tunes as well as Disney and other movie music, and will be directed by the Bands assistant conductor Steve Barbas. July 19 is a program to honor American Masters, including Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Frank Sinatra, and George Gershwin. The final concert on July 26 is a Summer Retrospective. Except as noted, the concerts are conducted by the Bands Music Director Jim ODell.
All concerts start at 7:15 pm, but are canceled if it rains. The Bands phone line will have cancellation information at 978-897-9969. Admission is $20 per carload or $15 per car for Trustees of Reservations members; $10 for bikers and walkers or $5 for Trustees members. The Fruitlands grounds open at 5:00 pm and the Art Gallery is open to concertgoers. More information about the Concord Band and each program can be found at www.concordband.org. Both the Bolton and Harvard Cultural Councils have supported the Concord Bands Fruitlands summer series and the Concord Cultural Council supports the Bands Winter concert at 51 Walden.
