Another WCUW FREE Member Concert!

John Cate brings his "Salon" series of vocal-intensive, rarely-played deep tracks to the WCUW FRONTROOM Friday, April 27th! The "Salon" series is an interesting and casual musical deep dive into John's multi-hundred song repertoire.

John is a prolific songwriter. He has written more than 1,000 songs and recorded 12 albums since returning to music in 1996. Johns songs are featured in film, network television and on DVDs, including such projects and programs as NCIS, Justified, American Idol, Num3ers and many others.

Joining John for this very unique trio performance is Paul Candilore on lead guitar and vocals. Paul shares a musical vocabulary with John which is nearly identical having grown up on the same artists and music in the same times. Paul co-produces with John as one half of the van Gogh brothers which John and Paul formed to reflect their each having one good ear. Paul and John have played together since 1995.

On bass and backing vocals is Clayton Young. Clayton Bob Young began playing with the John Cate Band in June of 2002. Johns music inspired me emotionally as a person, and emotionally as a bass player. The first time I watched John and Paul play, I told them at the break, I have to be a part of this band. Bobs professional music career started at the age of 13, playing with Swinging Steaks singer/guitarist/songwriter Tim Giovanniello. Bob has been a supporter and stand-in bass player with the Steaks ever since.

It's truly a magical night of original music, and even the seasoned Cate fan will hear something new. Come and be part of the FRONTROOM "live" studio audience. Table/chest space available and be sure to peruse the record library.

Seating In the half-round. Stage will set along the long wall (Falco Wall) . Jonathan Leary ~ Sound.
