"Created by a composer for composers" in 1991, Court-circuit from the outset was a place of experimentation, an art project promoting intense risk-taking in a spirit of total freedom. A sought after partner for composers, the ensemble cheerfully plays its role of agitator in the international contemporary scene. Court-Circuit has worked with the Paris Opera, the Paris Conservatory, and the Ilede-France conservatories. The ensemble has also been invited by highly dynamic international programming such as Maerzmuzik festivals, Printemps des Arts, and Re: New Music Project and has produced a discography of over 20 award-winning records.
Court Circuit will perform new French and American music, including a premiere of Aylward's Narcissus, the final work in a series of ensembles pieces that culminates Aylward's years-long exploration of Ovid's Metamorphoses, Philippe Leroux's Continuons, a work that takes its ideas from singular, simple compositional ideas carried to utmost exaggerated depths, Philippe Hurel's Figures Libre, and Christophe Bertrand's Sahn.
The Court-circuit ensemble is assisted by the « Direction régionale des affaires culturelles dIle-de-France » in the context of the program of « Compagnies et ensembles à Rayonnement national et international (CERNI) ». Its action is financed by the « Région Ile-de-France » in the context ot the « aide à la permanence artistique et culturelle ». It also receives, subsides from SACEM, SPEDIDAM, and Musique Nouvelle en Liberté. www.court-circuit.fr
