Description: A place of fragile dunes, barrier beaches and brackish ponds, it is threatened by human actions as well as powerful natural forces of hurricanes and noreasters. Yet wildlife thrives in these ever-changing habitats: woodlots and ponds host fall migrants; coastline and ocean waters attract shore- and sea birds; whales feed just offshore; and gray seals haul out on remote sandy beaches. Wednesday evening lectures will introduce you to the dynamic coastal environments of Westport, Mattapoisett, Provincetown, and Truro, weekend field trips will allow you to explore their wildlife.
