Description: A fun, interactive, and educational arts and crafts project for ages 8 and up. Participants will make a dog leash from re-purposed climbing rope that they can keep, donate to a local animal shelter, or give as a gift. For second graders-high school students, we learn: 1) environmental sustainability and the importance of reducing/reusing (Social Studies/Science); 2) how to estimate and measure (Math); and 3) and write letters dedicating our leash to a special person or pet in our lives (English Language Arts). Sprinkled in will also be safe and effective animal handling and bite prevention skills.
