Description: This is the Third Annual Exhibit sponsored by Arshavir Lodge No. 2 commemorating the Armenian Genocide which began on April 24, 1915, the date observed yearly as Armenian Martyrs Day. In this year of the Genocide's 102nd Anniversary, the theme of the exhibit is the Armenian immigration experience to the United States with the focus on Worcester. Stories and photographs of families who settled in the city dating back to before the 1890s Massacres, the 1915 Genocide, and up to recent times, will relate the struggles, hopes and dreams, and eventual "new life" of Armenian immigrants in "The Heart Of The Commonwealth." Ten display cases of various sizes in two locations on the Main Floor of the library will feature the exhibit. In addition, Special Events will take place in the Saxe Room including the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, April 4, 6:00PM, and on Sunday, April 9, 3:00PM, the showing of two videos directly related to the exhibit. Details to follow on both events.
