The first half hour of class will focus on the art of zill (finger cymbal) playing, including various rhythms, speeds, and patterns. The second half hour of class will include stretching, warmups, and bellydance drills, plus movement vocabulary that is essential to learning our Gypsy Fusion choreographies. The last half hour of class focuses on choreographies, skirt work, the use of props, gestures, theatrical characterization, and other important aspects of performance. Well dance to many exciting world music flavors, including Greek, Turkish, Spanish, African, Arabic, Indian, Romany/Gypsy, and Modern Fusion. Performance opportunities (optional) will be offered at student recitals and/or haflas. Please bring zills and a long, full, Gypsy style skirt to each class. Previous bellydance experience *is* required; if you know the basics and are ready for more, then come join us for this unique and passionate style of dance!

Sabrina says: "Soft, feminine, airy, floating, pale, light, pleasant, spring, pastel, pink and white. These are the words that come to mind when thinking about the choreography I am about to teach you in my next series of classes at The Dancing Gypsy. This is an original choreography that I am teaching you, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!" Class is mixed level; the music used will be "Sadikni" by Jehan Kamal, Youssef Kassab, Taala Taal Belly Dance. Please wear yoga or workout attire, a hip scarf, and bring a veil. Some veils are available for purchase in the shop as well.
