Calendar Hosting Features
The Social Web is always growing, and new features are always being added. See what we have to offer:
Instant Updating: With the Social Web hosting your calendar, your calendar will never be out of date because it's created just for your visitor. When events are over, they disappear from your calendars, but they are still in the database for future reference.
No Knowledge of HTML Required: You can add events to your calendar as well as modify and delete them by simply using the standard Social Web add event form. You can even have graphics to go with each event without knowing HTML.
No Special Server or Software Required: Your events calendars reside on the Social Web - all you need to do is link to them from your organization's website. Other more technical options are available if desired.
Publicity of Public Events: If you have public events that you want to promote, save time by having a Social Web powered calendar. All of your public events will show up on the Social Web which currently averages 5,000 unique visitors a day , and get e-mailed to Social Web members that sign up for daily or weekly e-mail reminders. Plus with a growing number of sites using the Social Web for their local events calendars, you can request your events appear on their calendars as well. Your events will also show up in search engines so everyone will be able to find out what you're doing. All by entering your event information once. If your event information changes, you don't need to call the maintainers of everyone's website, simply update your calendar and all of the other places are updated too.
No Advertisements: Your calendar should look professional and that includes not having other people's ads cluttering your site. Even on free calendars, the Social Web will never put ads on your pages.
Number of Calendars: Free and Basic users receive one calendar. Full users can have multiple calendar pages with different events and/or layouts. (e.g., a organization-wide calendar, plus separate athletic, career services, or other specialty calendars)
Maximum Number of Events Shown: You can customize your calendar to show as many upcoming events as you wish. You can also have multiple page calendars as necessary to show all of your events.
Number of Moderators: Anyone can add events to the Social Web, but your moderators are the only ones who are allowed to add events to your calendar. Free and Basic users can designate one moderator for their calendar. Full users can have as many moderators as they wish to distribute the task of adding events and improve communication throughout the various parts of your organization. Have multiple moderators for each calendar, assign different moderators to specific calendars, even allow members in related organizations to add events to your calendars - it's up to you.
Event Layout Options: Different calendars have different needs. You can choose from several ways to display the information on your calendars to find the one that works best for you. Full system users can have custom layouts created especially for their site.
Custom Fonts and Colors: Free users can select basic customizing options for their calendar. Basic and Full users can also choose a Cascading Style Sheet file for specific customization.
Searchable Listings: If you have many events on your calendar, let people find exactly what they're looking for. Your calendars are fully searchable by title, date, topic, or age range, allowing people to find information on upcoming events as well as past events.
Affiliation Only Events: If you have member only events, people that tell the Social Web they are affiliated with your organization can see those events along with public events in the area all at once. Your members don't have to look in multiple places for events and they can receive them in e-mail notifications as well.
Custom Header and Footer: Your calendars can look just like other pages on your website. Basic and Full users have complete control over the look of their calendars by creating custom header and footer files on their server that the Social Web will use to create each calendar.
Include Other Users' Events: In addition to showing the events you enter, if there are other events on the Social Web that you want on your calendar (by other members of your organization or anyone else), you can add them quickly and easily.
Take Event Requests from Public: Don't want to have to search the Social Web for other applicable events for your site? Let non-moderators of your calendar submit requests to have their events on your calendar. Simply select your decision for each event on the requests list and your calendar instantly updates. If the event changes, the person that entered it can update it without disturbing you.
Hilight Special Events in your Calendar: If you have a special series of events you want to stand out on your calendar, or have a master calendar with notes from which calendar each event comes from, it's all possible as a Full user.
Place Listings Data: Do you run a town or area site and want museum/restaurant/club listings? Pick the places you want to display on your site, and their information will be updated whenever they're updated in the Social Web.
