After being rejected by all the leading medical schools, Elizabeth Blackwell was accepted by Geneva Medical College, where she graduated first in her class in 1849 -- becoming the first female doctor to graduate from medical school and the first female doctor of medicine in the modern era. In addition to starting medical schools for women, she was a social activist working to make the lives of women and children better. Besides the obvious challenges she faced, she lost an eye and had to let go of her dream of becoming the first female surgeon. Her story is fast-moving, riveting and inspirational.

Linda Gray Kelley is an international performer who presents inspirational one-person shows; she is also an award-winning playwright.
