Invited Artist Talk w/Nina Fletcher
Art - Lecture/Discussion
Thursday, April 24, 2008
3:00 PM-4:30 PM
Ghosh Center for Science and Technology
Room 102
After spending time in the Peace Corps and then becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Nina Fletcher changed course and earned her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art. Armed with her BFA she pursued a variety of endeavors from serving as an art critic to starting Blackstone Print Studio, a state of the art facility open to local artists. In her own work, Nina Fletcher utilizes both two and three dimensions and a variety of media to express the transformation of the commonplace - a retelling of those histories into more modern parables. In much of her work she draws on the human body and its many layers, with her background in medicine remaining an important reference for her inquiries into that which makes us human.
