Lecture 1: The Mössbauer effect and quasi-elastic neutron scattering
Studies of phenomena in proteins lead to a new understanding of the Mössbauer effect and neutron scattering in complex systems such as biomolecules.
Lecture 2: The story of a misinterpreted phenomenon
Mössbauer measurements in proteins led to the discovery of a so-called dynamical transition. To explain this effect a number of different models have been introduced. Some models are clearly wrong, but their adherents continue to defend them. Following the exchange of arguments among the defenders of the different model provides insight how, hopefully, at the end there will be a clear picture.
