ABSTRACT: In my talk, I will describe a multimedia based course redesign of Applied Statistics I. In the first part of my talk, I will discuss some advantages of using multimedia in the classroom as well as best practices in creating effective multimedia assets. Afterwards, multimedia creation software such as Scratch, Geogebra, SAGE, and Processing will be demoed and their features will be compared. Specific applets from the course redesign will be highlighted. Lastly, I will discuss the effectiveness of my multimedia assets in terms of a student opinion survey, student evaluation forms, and their performance on exams.
