Successful Applications of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Mexico (WPI Only)

ICA is the leading construction company in Mexico and one of the largest in Latin America. It has worldwide experience in different types of construction projects, such as: office buildings, housing, hospitals, airports, stadiums, hotels, museums, libraries, convention centers, elevated highways, highways, bridges, deep drainage, aqueducts, hydroelectric plants, oil wells, mines, ports and waste water treatment plants among others.

Four years ago ICA opened ICA-BIM, a new business unit responsible for modeling almost all construction projects of ICA. Its purpose is to provide certainty in all construction phases. BIM technology has been crucial to deliver integrated projects to our clients.
This lecture will show success cases of BIM technology applied to different construction segments. It will show benefits of BIM deliverables applied to design, preconstruction, construction and facilities management.

Marco Vidali is a Mexican Architect with a Masters degree from Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña in Barcelona, Spain. Marco has 16 years of professional experience in design and construction in Latin America and Europe. He has developed and is currently director of ICA BIM, the BIM division inside ICA, which is the largest construction company in Mexico. He has also been involved with different levels of BIM technologies in over 50 infrastructure projects, from hospitals, to hydroelectric dams, water treatment plants, subways and elevated highways among others. Marco has lectured at Autodesk University, BIM forum, SPAR, 5D initiative, FARO user meeting and Stuttgart University among others. Marco is a member of ICAs R&D board.

Environmental Consulting at CDM Smith (WPI Only)

Lisa H. Gove is an Associate and Client Service Leader at CDM Smith, responsible for sales, oversight and delivery of water, environment, transportation, energy and facilities consulting services to municipal clients throughout Massachusetts. During her 19 tenure in consulting engineering, Ms. Gove has held engineering, project management and sales and marketing roles in the primary disciplines of drinking water and wastewater as well as environmental compliance, air quality, sustainability, environmental management systems, security and climate change.

Lisa graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and earned her master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Ms. Gove is a Massachusetts registered Professional Engineer and an American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE) Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE). Lisa is a Director At-large on the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Water Works Association, American Water Works Association, Women in Transportation Seminar Association (WTS) and Essex County Highway Association. Lisa and her husband live in Stoneham, Massachusetts with their two daughters.
