Two for the road, featuring Chet Williamson and guitarist Steve Cancelli, continues its weekly residency at Vals Restaurant, 75 Reservoir Street in Holden.
With their bluesy approach to jazz, Two for the road presents standards from the Great American Songbook by such composers as Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Harold Arlen, as well as jazz writers Duke Ellington, Miles Davis and Paul Desmond. Also performing harmonica favorites, selections from the album Chromatic Swing, and originals, this potent duo will quickly establish Val's as the place to be on Friday nights.
Known for his distinctive jazz harmonica styling, Williamsons sound is reminiscent of his heroes on the instrument -- Toots Thielemans, Les Thompson and Bruno Defilippi. Cancelli is a player of impeccable sound and taste. Hear him on Monica Hatchs album, If You Never Come to Me.
The duos performance is free and open to the public. Join them to help make Vals a regular spot for both musicians and fans. Great food. No cover. For more see: www.chetchromatic.com.
Two for roads new CD is now available at the session for $10.
