Beginner Belly Dance Class/Improvisational Tribal Style:

Learn some of the basics and train your muscles to isolate moves. This class will not be so much choreography-based, but more learning the core of what your body can do. Movements include but not limited to: Basic posture, hip slides, chest and hip rolls, hip circles, snake arms, chest lifts, chest slides, undulations, mayas, taqsims, omis, shoulder shimmies, hip shimmies, basic steps and much more. Can my body do that? Sure! Let's have fun! All ages, shapes and sizes welcome. Belly dance is not only great exercise, but also a great social event! Feel free to stop in and try it out! We have a nice group of women right now. We practice drills (repetition is key) in a non-threatening environment, work hard, sweat a lot and make up analogies about what our bodies are doing for each move.:) Wear something comfortable (like yoga pants) and bring some water. Mats are supplied and we'll be stretching on the floor. Creative attire is encouraged. As we progress through the class, we will eventually learn Improvisational Tribal Style which helps the dancers "connect" to one another in a performance and move effortlessly like a school of fish.
