**** FREE COMPUTER TRAINING ****
The Literacy Volunteers of South Central Massachusetts is offering a FREE computer training class on Saturdays over a five week period. Class is limited to ten participants. Starting on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10 a.m. and continuing until March 16th,the class will address five skill areas:
February 16 Class One - COMPUTER SKILLS (55 Minutes)
Using a mouse - point and click
Keyboard and typing tips
Opening and closing software files
Using a USB or thumb drive to store files
Locating a saved file and how to organize files
How to copy and paste files or text
Open and close window pane (pages)
February 23 Class Two - EMAIL SKILLS - Create a gmail account (35 Minutes)
Send an email
Receive an email
Attach a file
Open an attachment
March 2 Class Three - WORD PROCESSING SKILLS (45 minutes)
Using enter/return to create a blank line
Tab text to indent a line
Apply basic formatting (bold, italic etc)
Save a file - file organize
March 2 - Class Four - WEB SKILLS - 65 minutes
Go to Specified web address
Follow link to a new file
scroll through the web page/navigate a web page
Use back button to return
Basic search in a search engine
Identify and evaluate search results
Download and view file from webpage
March 16 - Class Five - APPLYING WHAT WE LEARNED
Create a word document and save
Create an email account (gmail)
Create an email and attach your word document
Send email with attachment
Visit Wikipedia, TV Guide.com, WebMD, Telegram & Gazette, Refdesk.com
Class is based on a course developed by Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium
