AARP Volunteers will provide tax assistance for low income earners at Jacob Edwards Library, starting January 28, 2013
FREE Tax assistance for low and moderate income persons will be available starting Monday, January 28, 2013, at Jacob Edwards Library, 236 Main Street, Southbridge, MA 01550. The service will be offered through Thursday, April 4th. Call 508-764-5426 to schedule an appointment.
The guidelines for eligibility are as follows:
Filing Status & Income Levels:
Single or Head of Household - around $55,000
Married Filing Joint Return - around $75,000
Please note that AARP Tax Aides cannot prepare a return with the following situations:
Rental property of any type
Foreclosure
Bankruptcy
Cancellation of debt
Casualty Loss
Employee Business Expense - Form 2106
Moving Expense
Taxpayers will need to bring:
Photo ID
Social Security Cards for yourself, spouse and all dependents
All forms received containing tax information:
o Social Security SSA-1099
o Wages (W-2)
o Interest and dividends (1099-Int/1099-Div)
o Pension / annuity payments (1099-R)
o Gambling winnings (W2G)
o Stock or Mutual Fund sales (brokers statement)
o Any other forms showing income received or taxes paid
Real estate and town/city water-sewer bills (for Massachusetts seniors)
Proof of health insurance the card you would take to a doctors appointment will have the
necessary information.
Last years (2011) tax return (Federal and/or State)
