Pericles Lewis is founding president and professor of humanities at Yale-NUS, a new liberal arts college opening Singapore, in partnership with Yale University and the National University of Singapore. An expert on literary modernism, he has published three books, including "Religious Experience and the Modernist Novel" (Cambridge University Press, 2010). His talk at Holy Cross, one of the Deitchman Family Lectures on Religion and Modernity, will explore the theme of the burial of the dead in the work of such authors James Joyce, Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, Joseph Conrad, D. H. Lawrence, Franz Kafka, Thomas Mann, and William Faulkner.ew Yale liberal arts college in Singapore.
