Using traditional hot working techniques, cane working and incalmo, and traditional hot assembly processes, students will create sculptural blown objects during this weeklong intensive workshop. We will dig into the old bag of traditional vessel making techniques and hone these skills while using them to create new and inventive sculpture. These time tested assembly methods of Venetian goblet making will be used as a foundation from which to build in order to create multi- part/bubble assemblages. Students interested should come to the class with a "what if" mind set, and think of this time as an experimental laboratory to push the boundaries of our conceptions.
Avoid wearing man made fibers and bring a notebook and a bottle of water you to class. All glass classes take place at the Worcester Center for Crafts' New Street Glass Studio, 35B New Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
