50th Annual Longsjo Classic

The Fitchburg State College Circuit Race, part of the 50th Annual Longsjo Classic, will be held on streets surrounding the campus.

Highland Avenue will be closed for the race. Spectators and racers may park at North Street lots.

Chartwells will be selling food for a public barbecue at the event at Pearl and Highland streets.

Bookstore Temporarily Closed

The Fitchburg State Bookstore will be undergoing renovations over the summer and will be closed for three weeks, starting Monday, July 13. It will reopen on Monday, Aug. 3. Students purchasing books for the college's Summer Session II, which begins Monday, July 6, will have from now until the end of the first week of Summer Session to buy materials.

Bookstore staff will only be able to respond to phone or e-mail inquiries from campus offices, students and the public during the final two weeks of renovation - July 20-24 and July 27-31. The Bookstore can be reached during that time by calling (978) 665-4026 or e-mailing bookstore@fsc.edu.

Rock the Block is one of the most popular events of the year. It's a block party on Highland Avenue, filled with booths and tables run by student organizations and campus offices. The event gives new and current students the opportunity to see what Fitchburg State has to offer outside of the classroom. Organizations around campus fill their tables with information, sign up sheets, and freebies for students to enjoy. Rock the Block also includes a cookout by Chartwells.

Family Weekend Friday Events

Join us for Family Weekend activities, which includes a parade, fireworks, the announcement of Mr. and Ms. FSC, and a drive-in movie.

The parade begins at 7 p.m. in the Weston parking lot, and will travel to Ross Street, Highland Avenue, Pearl Street, North Street, and then the Civic Center parking lot.

A fireworks show will begin after the parade, followed by the announcement of Mr. and Ms. FSC. A drive-in movie will be shown at Elliot Field.
