Artist and Poet Kottavei will discuss and sign her book, MentalCourse: Modern erotic senryu. Kottavei has mastered the art of Japanese haiku and senryu, which follows the same format as haiku but appeals to the human spirit. Using haikus abbreviated format of 5-7-5 syllables to make a point, create a stir, punctuate a moment and also reference nature, she speaks to the seasons of ones sexual transformation. Like the stages of a butterfly from its innocent beginnings inside the cocoon to the graceful expansion of its newfound wings, she traces the course of the human sexual and relationship experience, good, bad and ugly. Using simply seventeen syllables poetically intertwined in three explosive lines of poetic bliss, she captures the memories of our past and present and hopes for our future relationships.
